Tony Chan, Ph.D.
Professor Emeritus and former Dean Division of Physical Sciences, UCLA
Dr. Chan’s research interests are in developing new PDE methods for image processing, computer vision and graphics and CAD computational methods. His group develops multigrid and domain decomposition algorithms for image analysis and feature recognition using various iterative and parallel methods, e.g., Krylov subspace algorithms. Dr. Chan now heads the Mathematical and Physical Sciences at NSF, where he directs the intramural research and funding efforts.
